#SpaVoice - Special Edition
March 2020

The UK Spa Association looks forward to welcoming spa operator and supplier members to the first event of 2020. Our sold out Spring Networking Event takes place at Carden Park on 4th March and promises to be our best event yet!

Attendees will hear from Margaret Wood and her ‘Change for the Better’ talk. Margaret was secured as a keynote speaker, as she has co-designed Change for the Better, a flexible programme with a range of development approach options which can be tailored for different organisations and sectors. The aim is to support women during menopause transition and beyond, to optimise their talents and their contributions and ultimately for women to flourish in their working lives. A topic that is possibly the last taboo, with the press and now the UK Spa Association, giving it the attention it deserves.

Indira Kennedy is also a keynote speaker and we look forward to understanding her work surrounding Conscious Leadership. Indira has become known for turning ‘soft skills’ into practical, business essentials. Spring Networking Event attendees will take away an understanding of:
  • Why self-leadership and personal presence are essential to wholeness, boosting profit and having greater impact.
  • Why equality-consciousness is the new way of leading to retain and inspire your staff.
  • What neuroscience tells us about growth mindset and how to be successful.
  • Daily ritual as the secret to fulfilment and the future.

The UK Spa Association are also delighted to offer our members visiting Carden Park on the 3rd & 4th March, a Garden Session at the stunning new spa, at a special rate of just £30 per person

Any individual treatments booked will enjoy a 20% discount, off the brochure price.

For treatments and Garden sessions, book via reservations on 01829 731007 Quote UKSA.

Introducing Body Ballancer, a premium wellness treatment that can produce a range of health and aesthetic benefits, without the need for a therapist.

WHAT IS IT?

The Body Ballancer is a clinically proven, advanced lymphatic massage technology. It uses patent-protected, inflating compression garments to apply a gentle or firm massage that removes excess fluid and toxins via the lymphatic system.

WHY IS THE LYMPHATIC SYSTEM SO IMPORTANT?

The lymphatic system is a vast network of vessels serving almost every cell in the body. Strung along those vessels are lymph nodes that filter and purify lymphatic fluid. That fluid relies on muscle contraction, deep breathing or external manipulation to keep it moving. If the lymphatic system gets blocked . . .

CryoAction’s extreme cold spa treatments came to fruition after extensive exploration into alternative therapy for those who needed effective restorative and rehabilitative care. EDUCATION FIRST

While the Dermalogica story begins in 1986, the force of change in the industry started in Los Angeles, circa 1983. Jane Wurwand, a United Kingdom-trained skin therapist, recognised that continuing skin and body therapy education was practically non-existent in the United States. While her training had bee comprehensive and serious, US students entered the industry licensed yet under-trained, and worse, under-respected. Jane put her education into action, opening a small classroom in Marina del Rey, California under the name The International Dermal Institute (IDI). She invited licensed skin therapists to get hands-on with the postgraduate training so critical to making them competitive in the business. Today, IDI is considered the international gold-standard for postgraduate skin and body therapy training with 37 locations worldwide.

DERMALOGICA IS BORN

While teaching at IDI, it didn’t take long for Jane to realise no product line embraced her belief of skin health as opposed to “beauty,” so she developed her own. In 1986, Dermalogica was born. The vision was clear - a product line free of . . .

A Note from the Chair . . .

"Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars."
- Oscar Wilde

Well we've done it again . .

Selling out yet another bi-annual networking event proves just how far the UK Spa Association has come and how valued we are as your industry association in the world today.

Our Spring and Summer Networking events are now a mainstay of the UK spa industry calendar and once again have proven to outsell other industry events for interest, attendees and support.

Yet again we have been able to partner with a new and exciting spa, this time based in the North of England, an area close to my own heart, and my own home. I've been lucky enough to have a sneak peak at the incredible new spa at Carden Park and I can tell you, you will not be disappointed when you experience it.

We've again secured two inspirational speakers to bring you something truly different as part of our learning platform and we are constantly evolving the running order of the day to bring as much value to attendees as possible, listening to your feedback and to keep making our events even better.

Soon we'll need to have a third annual event just to keep up with the demand! 🤔

I'd like to extend a huge thank you to our incredible events team at the UKSA. Remember that we are a volunteer group of board members who give our time purely out of a passion to grow our industry and to make it better. I am constantly blown away by the organisation and excellence that UKSA events deliver, rivalling commercial events companies, and all from an already very successful and very busy group of volunteers.

I look forward to seeing you next week at Carden Park.
