The support shown for the new, annual, trade focused week is much appreciated and a key driver for change within the spa industry.

It has now been archived, should you still like to access these carefully created learnings, provided for the benefit of everyone”.

National Spa Week took place as from 4th – 10th November with a new 360 approach. The campaign centred on educational and value-added content, which had been carefully crafted by handpicked industry and outside industry experts, as they offered their insight into seven topical subjects.
The Nationals Spa Week kicked off on Monday 4th November with discussion around the topic Employee Mental Health.
Our Chairman, Adam Chatterley, from his podcast Salon Business Secrets spoke with Leigh Fell of Caritas Neuro Solutions Ltd. Leigh specialises in neurology research covering all aspects of mental health from Alzheimer’s and epilepsy to schizophrenia and depression. She also works with the charity, Support in Mind Scotland and Leigh is the first person in the UK to roll out ‘Bloom’ a project run by Mental Health UK and Support in Mind Scotland, funded by Lloyds Bank, training young people, how to cope with normal day to day life challenges and stressors.
The second day belonged to the subject of Employee Physical Health with our Chairman chatting with Iain R Bell of Executive Fitness Foundation. Iain is an international wellness & health consultant with a track record in education and corporate wellness for over 25 years.
Wednesday 6th November focused on Recruitment & Retention with the podcast interview being with Helena Field of SpaPulse. Helena has managed internationally recognised and highly respected luxury spas such as: Danesfield House Spa, Pennyhill Park Spa and the Mandarin Oriental Spa etc. She set up SpaPulse in July 2018, a job listing site specifically geared to the spa industry and serving the global spa community.
Thursday 7th November concentrated on Commercial Health and our podcast expert was Natalie McMillan of McMillan Associates Ltd. Having been a CEO of a £70m business, she is better placed than most to understand the commercial incentives of wellbeing and taking care of your staff. She has a track record of developing, implementing and evaluating the impact of well-being initiatives including significant reductions in absence and improved employee engagement scores.
Business Health featured as the topic for Friday 8th November, with expert Lopo Champalimaud of Treatwell.Lopo steered his company through a major European expansion campaign, that included five acquisitions, resulting in a company rebrand to Treatwell and the brand now operates in 11 countries, making it the largest hair & beauty booking service in the world.
Saturday 9th November was about Leadership and our podcast expert was Rebecca Bonnington of global training, coaching & training business Tricres LLP. Rebecca’s strengths lie in identifying and exploiting sales opportunities, leadership development, high level communication and rapid business growth. She is one of RBS’ executive coaches, selected to coach their top 100 executives.
The final day saw Adam Chatterley chat with Phill Holdsworth of AurumGold Ltd about Employee Financial Wellbeing. Financial wellbeing is a growing concern for employers with more than 25 million UK employees worrying about money. This is costing the UK employer more than £120 billion every year through stress related absenteeism, presenteeism, lower productivity and employee churn. Hear AurumGold’s expertise on the subject.
